Reflection

I) Write a paragraph in response to each of the following as they relate to you and your perception of your class experience:

Quality of Your Work
Effort
Participation
Improvement

Adjustment

Address the sub-topics in the bullet points below but do not write a list–this should be more of a narrative, describing your thoughts about your work in this class so far.

1. Quality of work

My quality of work is pretty decent because I take good photos, I don't always use these photos in the best subject matter. In fulfilling the assignment I would say I also finish my assignments with the requirements. I do everything that is needed but I could go deeper into the project. I always do the proper format and resolution. I always get my work done before or on time when it is due. I need to work on going beyond my first idea I ususlly just use the first two ideas I have.
2. Effort
My effort of taking photos and looking for a good spot to take them is decent. Planning the photographs could've been better and more time thought out but not terrible. I sometimes shoot more than required and that is difficult. I don't give up if it's hard because it's part of this class. No I don't take risk next quarter I am going to try. I do have a positive feedback because I think everyone is god in this class. I think I need to be more positive towards my own.

3. Participation
I am a on time to class. If I'm struggling I won't give up but I will ask for help. Most of the time I work independently unless I have a question. I stay on task until all my work is done.

4. Improvement
I think I have had improvement. I think I have put more effort into the last few projects. I have had the projects better planned out so it's not chaotic. My images are more together and flowing well now. I have more confidence after this last project.
5. Adjustment

What are you going to do differently in the 2nd Semester?
I am going to take more time on my projects. More effort and better ideas I am going to try to accomplish.

II) Suggest an assignment.

Is there something that you've wanted to do with your photography that we are not yet addressing?  Suggest an assignment and I will choose from your ideas and incorporate one of them into a project.

I want to do more projects with in class shoots.

Gottfried Helnwein part 2

How does this change in viewpoint change your interpretation of the image? What do you see? Describe it as if you were recounting it in detail to someone who had never seen it. Think about the scale--how could the size affect the meaning?  Think about the material, the logistics and engineering of mounting it.  Is it one contiguous image or is it spliced together or can't you tell? is it urban? Rural? Residential? Industrial? Given the image's location, who do you think will see the it? Who is the intended audience? Describe the mood of the image. What is the expression on the girl's face? Is it blase? Is it engaged? Is it optimistic? Wondering? Melancholy? Finally, consider the title "The Last Girl". What do you think the title suggests?

Now seeing the whole image I realize the man on the women's face was regular size and the women's face was just enlarged.I see a studio image where someone has a painting very big of a women's face. This painting is about 7 stories tall, this makes everyone else feel small in comparison. It is one contiguous image because every piece matches up perfectly so it couldn't be little pieces. It's industrial because it's a big empty building. I think people biking or driving could see this or a tourist attraction. The mood of this image melancholy she doesn't have a but expression but you can tell sadness. She is probably the last of a generation.

Gottfried Helnwein

Describe the image as closely as you can.  Write your description on your Blog. What do you think is going on here?  Is this an artistic image or a documentary image (or both)? Is the image Photoshopped? Try to assign meaning to the image. What do you think the photographer's intent was? What does the image say to you? How does the difference in scale between the man and the girl's face add to your interpretation of the photograph
The photograph is a man climbing on a women's face. What is happening in the image is a worker man is going to fix something with the women's face. This is an artistic because this is couldn't happen in real life. Photoshop was used in this image to make the man little and put on her face. The meaning is that a man is on a journey but he is on the edge because he is only hanging on by a thread. The photographer wanted to show struggles. The image to me is just a man going to work on this girls face. The difference in proportions shows for depth.
